{"id":9849,"date":"2021-04-23T17:08:08","date_gmt":"2021-04-23T22:08:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.savebuffalobayou.org\/?p=9849"},"modified":"2021-05-08T20:02:45","modified_gmt":"2021-05-09T01:02:45","slug":"regional-flood-planning-group-has-vacancies-including-environmental-rep","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.savebuffalobayou.org\/?p=9849","title":{"rendered":"Regional Flood Planning Group Has Vacancies, including Environmental Rep"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong><em>Executive Meeting May 7, Planning Meeting May 1<\/em><\/strong><em><strong>3<\/strong><\/em>, <strong><em>Public Meeting May 18<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>April 23, 2021<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Updated May 8, 2021<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.twdb.texas.gov\/flood\/planning\/regions\/6\/index.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">San Jacinto Region Flood Planning Group<\/a> is the local committee, one of fifteen river-basin groups in Texas, developing regional flood plans to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.twdb.texas.gov\/flood\/planning\/regions\/6\/index.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">deliver to the Texas Water Development Board by 2023<\/a>. The state board in turn is charged by the state legislature with administering the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.twdb.texas.gov\/financial\/programs\/FIF\/index.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Flood Infrastructure Fund.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are now fifteen voting positions in the San Jacinto group, known as Region 6, which had its first meeting last October. The group began with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.savebuffalobayou.org\/?p=9229\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">twelve voting members.<\/a> However, in the interim the members voted to create positions for representatives of the Upper Watershed and Coastal Communities as well as an additional Public seat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The executive committee will consider formal recommendations for the new Coastal Communities and Public positions at its <a href=\"\/\/\/Users\/susan\/Downloads\/Region%206_Executive%20Committee%20Agenda_05_07_21-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">executive committee meeting on May 7 at noon<\/a>, according to Fatima Berrios, assistant project manager for the group. Nominations for those two positions are closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.twdb.texas.gov\/flood\/planning\/index.asp#vacant\" target=\"_blank\">Nominations for the Upper Watershed category<\/a> are still open until May 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nominations to Represent Environmental Interests Due May 28<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, another seat is now open.
