Girls on glaciers.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/cechouston.org\/2019\/10\/16\/wild-scenic-film-festival-on-tour-2020\/\">Wild and Scenic Film Festival<\/a>, North America\u2019s largest environmental film festival, returns to Houston\u2019s historic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/Landmark's+River+Oaks+Theatre\/@29.7526327,-95.4091459,15z\/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0xaf746700096978f!8m2!3d29.7526327!4d-95.4091459?shorturl=1\">River Oaks Theater<\/a> Jan. 28 and 29.<\/p>\n<p>The touring festival of short films is always exciting and enlightening, providing Houstonians with eye-opening insights into new places, new adventures, and new research and ideas.<\/p>\n<p>The festival features <a href=\"https:\/\/cechouston.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/WSFF-2020-Film-List.pdf\">ten short films<\/a>, with different films shown each night from 7 to 9 p.m.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/wild-scenic-film-festival-on-tour-january-28-29-2020-7-pm-9-pm-each-night-tickets-70043920251\">Here\u2019s how to buy tickets.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The popular event is sponsored for the sixth straight year by the <a href=\"https:\/\/cechouston.org\/\">Citizens Environmental Coalition<\/a>, founded almost fifty years ago by a group of women active in environmental causes and quality of life issues. Among them was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.savebuffalobayou.org\/?p=3543\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Terry Hershey<\/a>, who helped save Buffalo Bayou from being channelized and lined with concrete like White Oak and Brays bayous.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wildandscenicfilmfestival.org\/about-the-festival\/\">festival was started almost forty years ago by activists in California determined to protect the South Yuba Rive<\/a>r.
