Bay Area Storm Surge Forum

March 7 @ 7:00 pm

Hurricanes and our future. What should be done? What protection from a storm surge should we get for proposed plans such as the Ike Dike on Galveston Bay with a potential cost of $32 billion?

Panelists at this public forum include Bob Stokes, president of the Galveston Bay Foundation; Jim Blackburn, co-director of the Severe Storm Prediction Education and Evacuation from Disasters Center (SSPEED), Brandt Mannchen of the Houston Sierra Club, and Jordan Macha, executive director of Bayou City Waterkeeper.  A representative from the US Army Corps of Engineers is expected to explain current storm surge protection proposals.
