Buffalo Bayou inside Memorial Park is one of the few sites of mostly pristine natural beauty still standing within the city limits. Through the wisdom and generosity of Ima Hogg, we are able to experience what Houston once was like; an amazing collection of plant and animal life, teeming with diversity and wonder. On a recent ride through the many trails(that’s correct; I ride my mountain bike)I encountered actual ripened grapes growing on the huge and tangled vines that form just a portion of this ecosystem. We need to think long and hard BEFORE we rush into a project with questionable results and ulterior agendas. Houston has a very bad tendency to destroy our heritage, and then look back with regret. Lets not let that happen to Memorial Park.
